A collaboration between SFU Community Trust and TransLink makes residents eligible for a subsidized Community Transit Pass. The first of its kind in North America, the pass aims to increase transit ridership in the community by providing a cost-effective alternative to the private automobile. The pass allows residents unlimited travel throughout TransLink’s service area for $29.67/month, compared to $130 for a regular pass. An extensive network of pedestrian pathways and bike trails link residences to shops and services on University High Street, the future elementary school, the neighbourhood park, and two transit stops. These pathways are also designed to connect residents to hiking trails in the adjacent Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area.
